All teachers are first hired with a 2-years contract. It is possible that some teachers are proposed a 1-year contract due to the nature of the work or if the position depends on student numbers.
During the 1st years constant feedback will be given by the Section Head, the Assistant Head, or the Head of department.
After the 2-years contract, teachers could be proposed a permanent contract at ISB.

The base salary is defined by your diploma and the number of years of experience.
A maximum of 15 years experience is recognized by ISB.
In the original contract, your step will therefore be defined by the diploma and the experience.
Example : Salary Step SBA / 8 for a teacher with a Bachelor degree and 8 years of professional experience
To be put on the SBA+ and SMA+ band, you must obtain a diploma with at least full year of successful course work beyond the SBA or SMA.
Faculty Pay Scales are published on the ISB intranet . They show monthly and annual salaries in EUR.

The International School of Brussels depends from the Joint Committee 337 (Commission Paritaire) and follows its rules regarding the salary indexations (cost of living index). Indexations are always 2% but the moment is not fixed (it depends on the evolution of consumer prices). Indexations regulations do not depend from ISB and can be modified by Belgian authorities at any time.
Every year in August, you will be recognized with one additional year of experience and your step will be modified (same example : SBA/9 in August Y+1). A small salary increase is associated with this step change every two years. Salaries are however capped at 36 years of experience.
