Our new round of children taking part in the Rights Respecting Schools committee met for the second time today. We used our recall knowledge of Rights and shared it with each other and then revisited the meaning of the A, B, C, D and E of Rights for children. We started work in small groups on making large A3 posters to display around the school once completed. We ended our session as we always do singing our 'We've got rights' song.
The Rights Respecting School committee met for the second time this term and continued to build on their knowledge of Rights. We focused on our recall knowledge of the ABCD and E of children's rights and started to make posters in small groups. Once completed they will go up around the school. We ended our session as we always do singing our 'We've got rights' song.
The Rights Respecting Schools committee met for the last time this term. During our session we completed our ABCDE of Rights posters. These will now be up in the school for all to see.
We had a chat about what we have covered this term and looked forward to next term and ideas for what the group could focus on next.
The children will move and try a new group for term 3 and then have an opportunity to come back to the Rights Respecting Schools committee if they wish in term 4.
We ended our session as we always do singing our 'we all have rights' song.
It has been lovely to work with the children this term and getting to know them all that little bit better.

Wednesday 5th November 2025
We meet on Wednesday 5th November 2025 for the third time. We revisited the articles and what the ABCDE of rights were and what they meant to the all the children not just in Cauldeen but world wide.
We moved into the groups we were working in the previous session to carry on working on our posters.
We then sang our rights song at the end of out meeting. The children really enjoyed this and we are going to be singing this at assembly too.
Wednesday 1st October 2025
The RRS committee met for the second time on Wednesday 1st October 2025. In this session we looked at the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) articles. We discussed some of them more closely and how they look in our school.
We then looked at the ABCDE of rights - see photos for meaning. We split into smaller groups and each group started to create a poster about either all (A), birth (B), cannot (C), don't (D) and equally (E) so we can display them around the school.
Wednesday 3rd September 2025
Our first Rights Respecting Schools (RRS) committee took place on Wednesday 3rd September 2025. Two children from each class in the school choose to be part of the RRS committee until December 2025.
In our first meeting we got to know each other and I explained to the children what a Rights Respecting School looks like. I shared that we have achieved our Bronze Award and are on track for our Siliver Award in the New Year.
We split in to table groups and played 'wants and needs' game. This was a great opportunity for the children to discuss what really was a 'want' or a 'need'.
