The Woodland Room
The Woodland Room is used for a number of different infant social communication groups.
In the morning the room is accessed by a small number of infant children who benefit from accessing the curriculum away from the busy mainstream environment. As well as engaging in learning and teaching activities to compliment the work done by class teachers, pupils will develop skills such as teamwork, co-operation, turn taking etc.
In the afternoon the room is used by children attending our play skills groups. These groups focus on developing social skills. Children learn about societal rules by making up games with rules, as well as about winning and losing and ‘playing fair’. They also learn about controlling their impulses in order to do well at something and about space, negotiating and problem solving.
