Our infant nurture group is for pupils in Primary 1 to Primary 3. The main aim of the group is to provide young children with the opportunity to spend time on social skills in a small group setting. Activities include art, baking, problem solving and paper crafts. The children also focus on talking about emotions and feelings, co-operating on team-building activities and games and learning new songs and stories that focus on positive behaviours.
Our senior group is for pupils in Primary 4 to Primary 7. The aims of the group are to promote co-operation and kindness as well as developing friendships in a safe environment with trusted adults. There is a strong focus on talking about emotions and feelings and in addition to participating in fun and creative activities, the children are encouraged to complete a weekly journal that they can share with their adults at the end of the block.
As a school we are focusing on using the Zones of Regulation with our pupils. We encourage the use of these Zones during nurture sessions. You may even have heard your children talk about the zones or the different colours that are associated with the different emotions.
Seasons for Growth is programmes for children, who have experienced significant change or loss. Seasons for Growth is based on the belief that change, loss and grief are a normal and valuable part of life. We examine the impact of changes such as death, separation, divorce, and natural disaster on our lives, and explore how we can learn to live with and grow from these experiences. The core intentions of this programme are the development of resilience and emotional literacy to promote social and emotional wellbeing.
