Well, as the name suggests, flightless birds are birds that cannot fly. Some examples are Ostriches, Emus, Kiwis, and Penguins. The have their own ways of moving about though: Ostriches and Emus have long legs, and are able to run. Penguins swim to get around in their Antarctic habitat, and Kiwis are also able to run, just not as fast as the Ostrich. They have ways of defending themselves too: Ostriches and Emus run, and kick out at the predator with all their might. Kiwis run too, and Penguins don't even have any predators, as there aren't any bird hunters in Antarctica.
Flightless Birds are birds one of a kind, as they are some of the few that do not have the ability to fly. And, this helps them out too. For example, Ostriches are born runners. It is just what suits them.
