If you would like to help sponsor the trophies, cups, and ribbons at the IJCL state convention, you can do so here at the $50 level.
We are also looking for sponsors for our hospitality sessions. We provide breakfast for all of our adult workers and offer snack breaks in the evening for all our attendees. Each session costs approximately $1,000. We offer sponsorships at three levels:
Bronze ($250) – sponsors a quarter of a session and is partnered with other sponsors
Silver ($500) – sponsors half of a session and is partnered with other sponsors
Gold ($1,000) – sponsors all of a session and is promoted as the sole sponsor of that session
On May 21, 2013 the Indiana Junior Classical League (IJCL) and the National Junior Classical League (NJCL) lost one of their staunchest supporters. As a way to honor the memory of Dennis (Denny) M. Bartlow, long time co-chair of the Indiana Junior Classical League, the IJCL Executive Board will implement the Dennis M. Bartlow State Convention Packet Award. This is an award that began in August 2012, when Denny suggested the executive board grant one teacher packet and two student packets for those teachers and students who were new to IJCL or had not attended an IJCL State Convention in the last five years. Denny was especially proud of being able to offer this opportunity for the first time at the 2013 IJCL State Convention as it was held at his alma mater, Indiana State University.
The IJCL Executive Board has created the Dennis M. Bartlow State Convention Packet Award. The goal of the program is to provide funding for a minimum of one teacher packet and two student packets on an annual basis. Denny’s strong belief in the benefit of teaching Latin in schools led him to be an active member of the National Junior Classical League and almost 40 years as co-chair of the Indiana Junior Classical League.
We, as teachers and supporters of Latin in Indiana, owe a great debt to Denny Bartlow—he made us all better through his tireless dedication to the Junior Classical League. So, please consider a donation to allow us to continue Denny’s work and honor him at this year’s state convention and into the future with this award. Please see below for more information about Denny and his passing.
Dennis “Denny” Bartlow – our “Mr. IJCL” – has died. He had a long history with JCL, attending 51 NJCL and 52 IJCL conventions. His most recent IJCL Convention being held at his beloved Indiana State University where he was often to be found cheering “Go Sycamores!” He enjoyed planning and attending the SCL reunions, travelling to visit family and friends, attending various sporting events – notably those of his Sycamores and the Florida Gators. He was also very active in his church – whether it involved singing in the choir, serving on various committees, or helping with the youth.
Although Denny spent much of his career living in Illinois, his heart was in Indiana. He was buried in his hometown of Montezuma, thus being “Back Home Again in Indiana.”
