Every year, the IJCL comes up with themes for Monday through Friday for just one week leading up to Fall Latin Day, searching for as much participation as possible from the entire IJCL. For every day of the week, a sponsor or designated member should submit the number of students participating in this statewide event. Schools that participate will be recognized at the following State Convention in March.
We also encourage you to use the hashtag #indianalatinweek when posting on your chapter accounts.

Each fall, the IJCL hosts a day of classics activities, which may include workshops, demonstrations, tours of museum exhibits, drama, mini-Ludi, and more. Schools that do not yet have a JCL chapter are invited to attend Fall Latin Day and learn more about our events. Attendees are not required to have paid JCL dues.
State Convention

State Convention is the largest annual gathering of the Indiana Junior Classical League, usually held in the Memorial Union of Indiana University’s Campus. Each year hundreds of Latin students gather around the Ides of March, in order to engage in graphic arts contests, academic testing, Certamen and much more. This experience will be two days of absolute fun and will provide an excellent learning experience for everyone. This year, IJCL will be holding its state convention at Indiana University, Bloomington.

Leadership, the state or position of being a leader. This definition seems quite simple, but what qualities actually make a leader? Each spring, IJCL officers host the annual IJCL Leadership Growth Day to help local chapters build their student leadership. Participants attend various sponsor-led workshops and meet with state officers to learn about specific duties and to get to know each other. The day wraps up with a club planning and goal-setting session. The event concludes with everyone sharing a highlight from the day.

The IJCL Italy Trip is open to all current IJCL members and sponsors, ISCL members, and families of those individuals. Every other year we come together as a state to travel for 10 days in Italy, focusing on Rome and the Bay of Naples area. The next trip is being planned for 2028.
National Convention
National Convention

If the NJCL National Convention experience had to be summed up in a few words, those words would be “Super State Convention.” This convention is five days of pure excitement with your delegation and other JCL’ers just as passionate about Latin as you. You get to compete in friendly competition with classics students from across the nation. The Indiana Junior Classical League delegation stops at all sorts of fun places along the way from amusement parks to malls and from historical sites to cranberry farms! National Convention is a truly amazing experience, and you are sure to develop friendships that, like the classics, can weather the ages. The 2027 National Convention will be held in Virginia at the College of William and Mary.

Do you enjoy quiz bowl games? Do you get a rush when faced with a Latin mythology question? Do you want to have a blast in your JCL experience? If you said yes to any of these questions, then certamen is the game for you. Compete with your team against others for the bragging rights of winning certamen! Certamen is held at State Convention, National Convention, and even its own Invitationals every year. Each year, there are up to four invitationals: Saturnalia (December), Hoosier (January), Indiana (February), and Floralia (April).

Join your IJCL Officers and fellow members for a virtual evening of Classics-themed games and information about IJCL events! Monthly Classics Chat meetups are hosted on Google Meet or Zoom via a link sent out to all who register. JCLink is a great way to get to know your fellow JCLers without travel time or fees!
