Prof. G. P. S. Raghava was selected for the Shri Om Prakash Bhasin Award 2024 in Electronics & Information Technology.

Velmenni, a startup incubated at the IIITD Innovation and Incubation Center, has secured ₹30 crore in Pre-Series A Funding led by pi Ventures to accelerate the commercialisation of its Free Space Optics (FSO) and Light Fidelity (Li-Fi) technologies, expand deployments across telecom, defence, and enterprise markets, and scale international operations.

Three teams of students from IIIT-Delhi have performed excellently at RedBrick Hacks III, a prestigious national-level hackathon hosted at Ashoka University. The third edition of this hackathon focused on building real-world solutions for Climate Action, Quality Education, and Sustainable Cities.

IIIT-Delhi’s team, Rayquaza EX has secured 1st place in the Student Track at the AI for Bharat Hackathon by Amazon Web Services. The team members include Ammar Saifee (CSE), Sarthak Bhudolia (CSAI), Sakshat Sachdeva (CSSS) and Prabal Minotra (CSD).

Our student Prerak Tanwar (B.Tech. CSE, Batch of 2024) has secured an 𝐀𝐥𝐥 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐚 𝐑𝐚𝐧𝐤 6 𝐚𝐭 𝐆𝐨𝐨𝐠𝐥𝐞’𝐬 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐢𝐠 𝐂𝐨𝐝𝐞 2026.

Research

IIIT-Delhi has received a DBT–Vinnova Indo-Swedish research grant for a collaborative project titled “AI-based bio-design for developing peptide therapeutics against pneumonia-causing pathogens with experimental validation.” On the Indian side, the project will be led by Dr. Docent N. Arul Murugan as PI, and Prof. G.P.S. Raghava and Dr. Vibhor Kumar as Co-PIs.

IIIT-Delhi receives a patent for “A System with Reconfigurable Intelligent Surface for Wireless Communication and a Method of Operation Thereof,” developed by Dr. Debidas Kundu, Khagendra Joshi, Deepak Kumar Sahoo, and Prof. Vivek Ashok Bohara.

Projects by Dr. Tanmoy Kundu and Dr. Shamik Sarkar have been awarded grants under the Prime Minister’s Early Career Research Grant scheme by Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF).

A paper by IIITD researchers Gautami Tripathi (PhD Student) and Prof. Pushpendra Sing titled "'Even Breathing Feels Like Suffering': Rethinking Information Infrastructures for Pollution and Marginalized Livelihoods" was presented at the CHI’26 (Conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems) held in Barcelona, Spain.

Publications

New research by Ms. Shruti Kinger and Dr.Mrinmoy Chakrabarty (Cognitive Science, SSH) shows how subclinical anxiety shapes the brain’s control over emotional memories, with primary data collected using functional MRI.

Dr. Vinayak Abrol shares his insights in an authored article titled “The Algorithmic Mind: Applying Systems Thinking to Emotional Resilience,” published in BW Wellbeing World. The piece explores how systems thinking can help individuals understand emotional patterns, navigate complexity, and build greater resilience in an ever-changing world.

In a Deccan Herald feature, Prof. Ganesh Bagler highlights how data and AI are transforming our understanding of food.

IIIT-Delhi hosted an interactive alumni session with Dr. Shelly Vishwakarma (Ph.D. Alumna, Class of 2020), currently a Lecturer in Electronic and Computer Science at the University of Southampton.
