Research paper “Energy-Aware Runtime Resource Harmonizer for Co-running Applications”, authored by Vanshika Jain, Varun Parashar, Dr. Vivek Kumar, and Chiranjib Sur, has received the Distinguished Paper Award at HiPC 2025, the 32nd IEEE International Conference on High Performance Computing, Data, and Analytics, held in Hyderabad, India.

Delhi’s Chief Minister, Smt. Rekha Gupta, awarded scholarships worth ₹25.25 crore to 1,709 academically meritorious students from State Universities of Delhi, marking a significant step toward making higher education accessible to all. We are proud to share that IIIT-Delhi students were among the beneficiaries, receiving scholarships totaling ₹4.96 crore.

Dr. Abhijit Mitra has been elevated to the grade of IEEE Senior Member for his contributions to Optical Communication and Networks while fostering strong industry-academic collaborations, working with organizations such as British Telecom, Tejas Networks, STL, and international universities, driving real-world impact through cutting-edge research and innovation.

A demo titled “Mirror-Assisted Non-Line-of-Sight Voice Communication Over Solar Panels as Receivers for Long-Range Low-Power Links” by Ankit Kumar Pal, Rahul, Dr. Abhijit Mitra, and Prof. Vivek Ashok Bohara, has won the Best Demo Award at the 18th International Conference on Communication Systems & Networks (COMSNETS 2026)

ScrapUncle- formerly Swapeco, a startup founded by IIIT-Delhi alumnus Mukul Chhabra (B.Tech. ECE, Class of 2020) and incubated at the IIITD Innovation and Incubation Center, has raised ₹22 crore (~$2.4 million) in a Pre-Series A funding round led by Orios Venture Partners, with Acumen Fund, Inc’. coming in as Co-Lead.

Dr. Abhijit Mitra received the prestigious NSF (USA) – MeitY (Government of India) collaborative research grant. Dr. Mitra has been awarded the grant to develop a cross-layer platform for correlating Optical Layer failures with the Internet Protocol (IP) layer. The project is supported under the NSF–MeitY bilateral research program.

Ph.D. students Monika Aadhya (Advisor: Dr. Smriti Singh) and Mariam Fatima (Advisor: Dr. Praveen Priyadarshi) have been selected to participate in the 8th RC21 - IJURR Foundation - IJURR Doctoral School in Comparative Urban Studies (Vienna 2026) with a fully funded scholarship.

B.Tech. students Aditya Bhandari and Manya Chaturvedi have secured 2nd position among global participants in the flagship YUVAi Global Youth Challenge held at the India AI Impact Summit 2026 and received ₹10 Lakh award for their groundbreaking innovation of WAYV- Wearable Assistive for Your Vision, an AI-powered wearable for gesture-based haptic interactive Braille learning.

Nishant Singh, a fourth-year B.Tech student from the CSSS branch at IIIT-Delhi, recently represented India in Egypt as a Cultural Ambassador under the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), Ministry of External Affairs.

Grow Indigo (a startup based at IIITD Innovation & Incubation Center) received Verra approval for its Aadi Project (VCS 2590)

Research

Naviya Lall and Ishita Singh, supervised by Dr. Mrinmoy Chakrabarty and Dr. Sonia Baloni Ray from the Department of Social Sciences and Humanities, presented two studies at the Annual Conference of Cognitive Science, CBCS Allahabad (Dec, 2025).

Nishpaksh, an AI Fairness tool (Beta) developed at Intellicom Lab (IIIT-Delhi) by Dr. Ranjitha Prasad and Shashank Prakash in collaboration with Avinash Agarwal from Telecommunication Engineering Centre, Department of Telecommunications ( DOT ), was showcased at the India AI Impact Summit 2026.

Prof. Pravesh Biyani and his team showcased their app Chartr at the India AI Impact Summit 2026.

Academic Events

The Office of Alumni Affairs and the Department of Computer Science and Technology at IIIT-Delhi hosted an inspiring Alumni Talk featuring our alumnus Vedant Das Swain (B.Tech. CSE, Class of 2016). Currently serving as an Assistant Professor at the Tandon School of Engineering, New York University (NYU), Vedant shared his remarkable journey from being a student at IIIT-Delhi to becoming tenure-line faculty at a leading global university.

IIIT-Delhi, in partnership with Mastercard AI Garage and the Yardi School of AI at IIT Delhi, organized an exclusive Symposium on AI in Finance, Payments, and Security, bringing together leading minds from academia and industry. This was organized as a pre-event of IndiaAI Impact Summit 2026.

Ms. Vanshika Vats (IIITD Alumna, Class of 2020) was invited for an Alumni Talk on “At the Crossroads: Embracing Research as the Road Less Traveled”. Currently a Ph.D. Candidate in Computer Science and Engineering at the University of California, Santa Cruz, Vanshika specializes in applied computer vision. Her research focuses on building more verifiable perception systems through collaborative multi-agent frameworks.

Dr. Anoop Ratn delivered an invited Open Art Talk at the 20th Collage International Art Carnival 2026 at Lalit Kala Akademi in Delhi.

IIITD hosted a delegation from the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) under the LOTUS Programme to strengthen bilateral scientific partnerships.

IIITD collaborated with Marvell Technology, Inc. to launch a course “Networks for AI/ML Systems,” co-taught by Dr. Rinku Shah and Abed Mohammad Kamaluddin.

IIITD ECE Labs conducted a Winter Workshop “Unlock Your Potential” for school students on Arduino-based hands-on projects.

Dr. Richa Gupta spoke at the NCPEDP–Mphasis Assistive Technology Bootcamp on research-backed assistive technology practices.

IIIT-Delhi hosted the Final Dissemination Conference of IRASHUB, an Erasmus+ supported Robotics & Autonomous Systems initiative led by Dr. Jainendra Shukla, marking a major milestone in IndoEU collaboration.
