Mrs. Francis is a veteran English Language Arts teacher who also focuses on character traits and social and emotional learning. For the 9/11 project, Mrs. Francis encourages students to consider the traits of the first responders and other ordinary heroes.
Mrs. Francis's students excelled at posters, PowerPoints and presentations. They piloted the Boat Lift documentary which focused on how the tug boat owners and ferry owners came together to save 500,000 stranded persons through a boat lift which took 9 hours on 9/11 2001.
Mrs. Francis classes read several 9/11 middle school books and reacted to them as readers of literature and as citizens studying 9/11.
