Enjoying the Swedish Experience at Home!

On Friday, June 14th, we held a follow-up event at the Bellvitge-Gornal Cultural Center to celebrate the exchange that 12 students from 3rd and 4th ESO made to Gothenburg, Sweden, this past April. Before an audience of 2nd, 3rd, and 4th ESO students, teachers, and families, the students answered a series of questions posed by the teachers who accompanied them. They were asked about various aspects, such as how they felt welcomed by their Swedish host families, whether they were able to express themselves well in English, the classes they attended at Sannaskolan, Swedish fashion, food, and the excursions they went on. When they finished, the audience had a chance to ask questions as well.

Following this, the students recreated the science conference they had presented at the Swedish school, titled "Science, Nature, and Wellbeing." They gave oral presentations in English on various topics: (a) nature and emotional wellbeing; (b) consumption, recycling, and waste; (c) diet, health, and the environment; (d) transport and the environment; (e) climate change and political activism. Each group shared information on a topic, highlighted practices we should adopt, summarized the results of interviews they conducted with students and teachers in Bellvitge (leaving out the Sannaskolan section), and concluded with an action plan—by far the most important part. This plan outlines the behaviours they aim to adopt in the future in connection with these topics. We know change doesn’t happen overnight, but the seeds have been planted.

Finally, we enjoyed a video montage of photos from the Swedish experience, put together by 4th ESO students in the science-technology track (thank you, Àlex Sebastian, for the finishing touches!). Then, the winning logo was revealed, which will represent our project. Congratulations, Janina Núñez! To close, each student received a certificate of attendance at Sannaskolan and a participation diploma from Bellvitge Institute.

Without a doubt, this has been an outstanding learning experience!

(CAT) Gaudim de l’experiència sueca aquí, a casa! 

El divendres 14 de juny, vam realitzar al Centre Cultural Bellvitge-Gornal el traspàs de la mobilitat que 12 alumnes de 3r i 4t de l’ESO van fer l’abril passat a Göteborg, Suècia. Davant de l’alumnat de 2n, 3r i 4t ESO, professorat i famílies, els alumnes han contestat una sèrie de preguntes que les professores que els van acompanyar els hi han fet. Els hi han preguntat moltes coses, com per exemple, com es van sentir acollits per les famílies sueques, si es van poder expressar bé en anglès, a quines classes van assistir a l’institut de Sannaskolan, com vestien, què menjaven i quines excursions van fer. 

Quan han acabat, el públic també els ha pogut fer preguntes. Després, han repetit el congrés científic, titulat “Science, Nature and Wellbeing”, que van fer a l’institut suec. Els alumnes han fet presentacions orals en anglès sobre temes diversos: (a) natura i benestar emocional; (b) el consum, el reciclatge i residus; (c) dieta, salut i el medi ambient; (d) transport i medi ambient; (e) canvi climàtic activisme polític. Tots ells han donat informació sobre un tema i han extret les pràctiques que hauríem de seguir, després han resumit els resultats de les entrevistes que van fer als estudiants i professors a Bellvitge (la part de Sannaskolan no l’han explicat), i han acabat amb el pla d’acció, la part més important. Aquest pla inclou els tipus de comportaments que ells volen tenir en el futur, amb relació als diferents temes tractats. Ja sabem que el canvi no pot ser d’un dia per l’altre, però la llavor ja està plantada. 

Finalment, hem gaudit un video amb fotografies sobre l’experiència a Suècia, que ha estat muntat pels alumnes de 4tESO científic-tecnològic (gràcies, Àlex Sebastian per acabar la feina!). Després se’ns ha revelat el logo guanyador, que representarà el nostre projecte. Enhorabona, Janina Núñez! 

Per acabar, els alumnes han rebut un certificat d’assistència a Sannaskolan i un diploma d’aprofitament per part de l’institut Bellvitge. Sens dubte, aquesta ha estat una gran experiència d’aprenentatge!!
