IAS Kenya has a board of directors. The board is the ultimate decision-maker of the organisation. It is composed by five professionals drawn from different career paths. They meet at least four times annually to give policy direction. In addition, the organisation has members that represent various interest groups associated with IAS Kenya. The day to day management is overseen by the senior management team (SMT) lead by the country director.
The SMT implements decisions of the board, carries out activities in the plan, monitors, evaluates and oversees the day to day operations of the organisation. The SMT receives and reviews monthly performance reports from the different functions/departments. The country director, on behalf of the SMT, takes responsibility for efficient management and delivery of day to day services and for the results achieved. The country director is responsible for submitting these performance reports quarterly to the board.
Fieldwork operations are supervised by the field coordinators who are based at the project sites. An ad hoc committee is constituted from time to time to address matters of incidental nature as they arise.
The organisational governance board (OBG) responsibility is to oversee the review of institutional framework requisite structures, policies and operational procedures that will enable the organisation to achieve the objectives set out in the strategic plan. The OBG and the management team are regularly monitoring and evaluating its implementation to ensure that any performance gaps are identified early and mitigation measures are put in place to address them.
