Mystery readers are a very popular reading for pleasure initiative at Hylands Primary School. Predominantly occurring in Early Years and Key Stage One, parents volunteer to share a story with their child's class but this information is kept secret until the parent appears at the classroom door!
The surprise and excitement on the children's faces are wonderful to see. Some staff members have also joined in with the surprise! We have also had families share stories in their first language which we love to celebrate across the school.
If you would like to become a mystery reader in your child's class then please contact the class teacher.
It's an amazing effort when the parent mystery reader appears in their pyjamas to join in with Children's Mental Health Pyjama Day and then reads his own story he's written! Fabulous!
