Hylands Primary School choir is an extra-curricular club which is open to children in Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6. It takes place every Thursday between 3:20 and 4:30 and is led by Mrs Cornell and Mrs Thorne. The children in the choir get the opportunity to perform at different venues across the school year including the Queen's Theatre and O2 Arena.
RECORDING A SONG TO CELEBRATE CHILDREN'S MENTAL HEALTH WEEK 2025
The children in the school choir recorded their own version of Emile Sande's 'Brighter Days' which they performed at the Young Voices concert earlier this year at the O2 Arena. We thought the lyrics worked perfectly to help us celebrate Children's Mental Health Week. We decided to add some makaton signs as well - we hope you enjoy our performance!
YOUNG VOICES CONCERT 2025
For the 14th year running, the children in Hylands Primary School choir got the amazing opportunity to sing at the O2 arena with 8000 other children as part of the Young Voices Concert. We learnt a wide selection of songs from different genres and had such a great day and very late night performing them all to an audience of thousands! Some photographs and video clips are included below:
PERFORMING AT THE MERCURY SHOPPING CENTRE - DECEMBER 2024
The school choir brought Christmas shoppers to a standstill towards the end of December when they performed a selection of their favourite Christmas songs and carols at the Mercury Shopping Centre in Romford. We had a number of very talented soloists showing great courage (one of our core values at Hylands) as they performed to a large audience.
PERFORMING AT ABB CROSS NURSING HOME - DECEMBER 2024
Towards the end of December, some members of Hylands Primary Choir were very privileged to have the opportunity to perform some of their popular Christmas songs and carols to the staff and residents at Abb Cross nursing home in Romford. It was so wonderful to see the children sharing the joy of Christmas to others in our community. We can't wait to return for another performance!
