At Hylands, we have developed a curriculum specifically designed to address the challenges young children face in our rapidly evolving world. Our well-structured PE curriculum aims to counteract the effects of limited physical activity, gender inequalities, poor well-being, and excessive screen time prevalent in society today.
Our goal is to provide a supportive environment and meaningful opportunities for children to:
Develop and refine physical skills.
Apply these skills in game and play situations.
Learn important life skills such as teamwork, social interaction, determination, and resilience.
Build self-confidence in physical, social, and emotional domains.
Ensure equal access for all children, including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), as well as boys and girls.
Offer opportunities for regular engagement in physical activity.
Experience and enjoy a wide range of new sports and extracurricular clubs.
Participate in twice-weekly, well-planned, and assessed PE lessons, with assessments guiding future learning and ensuring a continual progression in their physical education.
Take on leadership roles, supporting their peers and younger students in learning, participating in, and enjoying games and sports.
Engage children from diverse socio-economic backgrounds, ensuring inclusive opportunities for all.
Through this approach, we strive to foster a holistic development of our students, helping them thrive in both physical and social aspects of their lives.
