Instructional Coaching

Instructional Coaching (also known as Pedagogical Coaching) is a formative approach to supporting teachers to improve the impact of their classroom practice on learner outcomes.  There are a range of approaches being promoted in UK.  Below is an asynchronous introduction to instructional coaching based on Jim Knight's version which is well-evidenced to make a positive impact on learner outcomes.  It is aligned to the new approach to professional development, the professional standards for teaching and leadership and the school as a learning organisation model.  However, it is not a quick fix and requires protected time commitment over time for both teachers and their coach.  Walkthrus uses an adapted version of instructional coaching.  Here is an interview discussing The Definitive Guide to Instruction Coaching.
