Important information
Our class PE sessions are every Tuesday. Rather than the children bringing in a PE kit to keep in school, please would you send your child in a PE kit for this day only. This could be leggings or jogging bottoms with suitable footwear for physical activity.
We will be providing a healthy snack daily- the cost of this will be £1 per week. We will be providing milk each day at snack time. All children can bring a reusable water bottle with their name on it to drink from and refill throughout the day.
School dinners are free for all pupils as part of the universal free school meal offer. See the menu below.
Reading books will be changed and sent home on a Friday. Please make sure your child's book folder is in school by Thursday so that they will be able to take their new book home.
Our main communication with you is through seesaw. Please come and see us if you're having difficulty or need a new QR code.
Spring term inquiry - Would you rather live in Ferndale now or in the past?
During this inquiry, children will explore key inquiry questions such as “When was our school built?” and “What was here before?”, using a range of historical sources to help them investigate.
Through this inquiry, pupils will learn about the history of their school, how it has changed over the years, and its important place within the local community. They will also consider how to look after the school and its environment, exploring the school’s rules and routines.
To extend their learning, children will study the shops in Ferndale, comparing the high street now and in the past through real‑life visits, old photographs and books. They will explore the different jobs connected to these shops and think about the impact these roles had on daily life.
Throughout the inquiry, pupils will use evidence to make their own decisions about what it might have been like to live in Ferndale then and now.
