Curriculum Statement

As part of the new curriculum, every school has to adopt their curriculum and publish a summary of it. Below is our curriculum statement that outlines the process we undertook and how we intend to move forward. 

We have involved pupils, parents, staff, governors and the wider community in order to develop our curriculum. 

The Four Purposes

The four purposes are at the heart of our new curriculum at Darran Park Primary. They are the starting point for all decisions on the content and experiences that we are developing as part of the curriculum. More than that, they are designed to influence how we plan, teach and assess.

Our children have explored what the four purposes mean to them and devised jigsaw characters to identify these in their learning.  We represent these as posters in our classrooms and around our school. They underpin our curriculum and are the principle driving force behind everything we do. 

As a school we aspire for our children to be ethically informed and ready to lead fulfilling lives as valued members of society by focusing on the four core purposes of our curriculum 

Our children will be: 

• ambitious, capable learners, ready to learn throughout their lives

• enterprising, creative contributors, ready to play a full part in life and work

• ethical, informed citizens of Wales and the world

• healthy, confident individuals, ready to lead fulfilling lives as valued members of society.
