Class inquiry - Summer Term
What is your favourite tale from Wales?
This term we will be exploring Welsh culture and identity. What is a myth? What is a legend? Explore these questions and more learning about the magic and mystery of Wales. Children will explore: • the difference between a myth and a legend • traditional Welsh myths and legends• how to write a myth or legend
In the Myths and Legends project, children will receive a visit from a professional storyteller who will tell them about the fascinating legend of the giant Rhitta Gawr bringing the story to life through performance.
They’ll explore the key features of myths and legends and investigate the Arthurian tales of the Welsh flag’s red dragon. The legends of fearsome giants, crafty lake monsters and mischievous fairies will also be introduced to them.
They’ll stomp like giants, use clay to model monsters or dragon eyes and take fairy photographs. They’ll listen to Welsh triple harp tunes, learn to dance and create films of Welsh myths and legends including Y Afanc and The Golden Harp.
Louby Lou Storytelling visited to work with us to perform in a dance and drama workshop for the Welsh myth, Rhitta Gawr.
