Why Are Hungry College Students Not Seeking Help? Predictors of and Barriers to Using an On-Campus Food Pantry

We need to continuously promote access to healthy foods for students, especially college students who spend thousands and thousands of dollars on these institutions that should be providing us with these resources anyway. We should advocate for more people of color to have their voices heard in these surveys/research and most importantly advocate for students to have access to basic needs. This data and methodology shows that there are many barriers for college students when it comes to accessing their universities' food pantries. While this article was written over 5 years ago, I feel like this is important information in order for us to advocate for more food support for college students as well as try our best to put an end to some of the barriers that get in the way of students accessing these campus resources, such as embarrassment due to social stigma, lack of knowledge on how the program works, and inconvenient hours.
