53 participants living and working in a rural district in southern Ethiopia were interviewed: 18 people living with SMI, 21 caregivers, and 14 primary health care providers. The study used qualitative data gathered from the interviews to examine the relation between traumatic events and SMI. This journal was published in 2023, and builds on the conversation by providing data to reinforce theories about the correlation between SMI and trauma. This information is useful to my internship as many of my clients live with SMI. 87 other sources are cited. This article was written by scholars in Ethiopia as well as the United States, their education on psychology and positions in mental health treatment professions provide them a credible position on this topic.
