Website: Humboldt Senior Resource Center (HSRC)

The goal of the Humboldt Senior Resource Center is to serve seniors, families, and caregivers in Humboldt County with services, information, education, and entertainment. (HSRC) The HSRC changes to meet the demands of an aging population whose numbers are rising. Their goal is to create a wholesome and compassionate community that fosters ties between generations, values the knowledge and experience of its senior citizens, and shows awareness of and respect for the aging process. (Humboldt Senior Resource Center | Supporting Seniors in Maintaining Health, Dignity and Self Determination, n.d.) HSRC serves other social workers, community resource centers, and the aging population. The website was created in the last 15 years and brings a new positive experience to Humboldt County. This agency provides inclusion and equity, except there is no direct outreach to marginalize people of color or the indigenous community.

HSRC is a handy resource to the community that better assists participants seeking services. Some of those services include Meals on Wheels, which delivers food directly to the participant; Program of All-Inclusive Care (PACE), including in-home support services; and Multi-senior Services Program (MSSP), which helps to keep participants in their homes, and Adult Day services. Government sources such as the CDC and other local government and federal agencies are represented in this agency. HSRC is also a non-profit organization governed by a collection of boards of directors. They all collaborate and work together, each with different experiences and a social work background.
