THE GETTY CHALLENGE
By now most of you may have seen or heard about the Getty challenge were you recreate a piece of art of your choice. We challenge you to take a break from the everyday and get inspired! It is a great opportunity to flex your creative muscles and to make an ordinary day extraordinary.
This fun and inventive challenge is easy to do. Just find an art work from the resources listed below, or where ever you find something that intrigues you. Famous painting, sculpture, print, even recreating a famous album cover.
Take everyday objects from around your home – anything from blankets and boxes to tape and empty TP rolls and go to work. You can even get pets and people (with whom you are sheltering at home) involved. When you are finished, send the
image of the original artwork plus your recreation to the Google classroom or by email. We will take the best once and have another contest voted on you, THE STUDENTS.
So take a moment to leave the stress and strain behind and get some rest and re-create! HAVE FUN!!
Check out the following collections for some great ideas. The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Art Institute Chicago, and The Getty Center:

Covid Comic
So with how difficult everything is right now let's look for a little humor if you will. What I am asking you to do is make your funniest, silliest, most outrageously hilarious Covid Comic (political cartoon about the coronavirus). Here are some examples below to make the wheels going.
v
We are going to take the idea of a political cartoon and add the Covid19/ Coronavirus/ pandemic theme to it. A political cartoon, a drawing (often including caricature) made for the purpose of conveying editorial commentary on politics, politicians, and current events. Such cartoons play a role in the political discourse of a society that provides for freedom of speech and of the press. So remember it is your right to state an opinion and make this funny, just do not make it offensive.
As usual we are out expecting everyone to have a million art supplies at home so at a minimum we are looking for you to use a piece of computer paper, a sketchbook, and all you have is lined paper that is fine. As always, focus on craftsmanship and do the best you can. I will post the 4-6 funniest on the home screen of the website and we will vote for who's is the funniest. Remember, it doesn't matter if it is in color or in black and white. We are just looking for a reason to laugh.
The top 4-6 cartoons will be posted on the website based on the dates below. Starting Thursday at noon until 11:59 Sunday. The winner will win……… I guess you will have to wait and see but there will be a prize:-)
Further instructions on how to vote will be coming next Thursday.
