Welcome to the Transition Year choices website.  Here you will find key information about all the courses you will study during your Transition Year at HDHS, including both Core and Options subjects.  At HDHS Year 9 is our Transition Year, as you start building links between Key Stage Three (KS3 - Years 7 and 8)  and the foundations you need for subject mastery and success at Key Stage Four (KS4 - Years 10 and 11).

You have a wide range of choices to make for Year 9, which will help you to decide which subjects you would like to continue with at KS4 where you will complete your GCSEs.  Each optional subject page includes key information about the course, as well as an online taster lesson and details about where the subject can take you in the future.

Which courses you study will depend on whether you are following the Purple Route (which includes the full English Baccalaureate) , or the Orange Route.  Students in 8A and 8B will automatically be enrolled onto the Purple Route, and students in all other tutor groups can choose the full suite of EBacc subjects if they wish as well.

The deadline for you to make your choices is Friday 17th May.  Prior to this you will have received a log in and password to the choices website.  After this point, if you would like to make changes to your choices, you will need to contact Mr Higgon directly.

Towards the end of Year 9 you will be asked to make your final options choices for KS4, based on the courses you have studied during your Transition Year.
