Aims and Content of the Course
English is an essential skill for everyone. We need to:
Understand and interpret the work around us
Understand how to communicate in different ways
We teach an integrated Literature and Language course. We study a wide range of writers’ work from novels to poetry and a lot more! The English course offers students a chance to take a more responsible role in a world which demands a range of communication skills. It is an essential qualification for most courses in Further and Higher Education. Students in Year 9, 10 and Year 11 are prepared for GCSE on completion of Year 11. The final assessment is based on 100% exam only which will be taken at the end of Year 11.
Homework
Homework is set weekly and will be an opportunity to develop necessary skills such as reading for meaning, annotation, analysis, forming and developing viewpoints.
