Aims and Content of the Course

Calling all budding actors, creative minds and those who wish to work in the performing arts industry and gain transferable skills.


A typical student who takes Drama:

  • Has a passion for performing and enjoys theatre visits

  • Thrives through being a co-operative member of a group


The Pearson BTEC Level 1/Level 2 Tech Award in Performing Arts, ACTING PATHWAY; comprises of 3 Units

  • 1: Exploring the Performing Arts Internally assessed. - Learners will develop their understanding of the performing arts by examining the work of performing arts professionals and the processes used to create performance.

Learning outcomes

A - Investigate how professional performance or production work is created.

B - Demonstrate understanding of the skills, techniques and approaches used by professionals to create performance/production work.


  • 2: Developing Skills and Techniques in the Performing Arts Internal Assessed. - Learners will develop their performing arts skills and techniques through the reproduction of acting repertoire as performers or designers.

Learning outcomes

A - Use rehearsal or production/design processes.

B - Apply skills and techniques in performance or realisation.

C - Review own development and application of performance or design skills.


3 :Performing to a Brief -Externally assessed - Learners will be given the opportunity to work as part of a group to contribute to a workshop performance as either a performer or a designer in response to a brief and stimulus.
