Core PE

Core Physical Education (PE) at HDHS for Year 9 students is designed to foster holistic development, encompassing physical fitness, skill acquisition, teamwork, and personal growth. At HDHS, our PE curriculum aims to provide a well-rounded experience that not only enhances students' physical abilities but also nurtures their social, emotional, and cognitive skills.

Structured around the national curriculum guidelines, our PE program offers a diverse range of activities tailored to engage and challenge students of varying abilities and interests. From traditional sports like football, basketball, and athletics to alternative activities such as dance, yoga, and adventure sports, students have the opportunity to explore and excel in different disciplines.

The core PE curriculum at HDHS places a strong emphasis on developing fundamental movement skills, including coordination, agility, balance, and strength. Through a combination of practical sessions, theoretical knowledge, and performance analysis, students gain a deeper understanding of the biomechanics, tactics, and strategies involved in various sports and physical activities.

Beyond physical prowess, our PE program also promotes key values such as teamwork, resilience, respect, and leadership. Collaborative tasks, group challenges, and competitive games encourage students to communicate effectively, support one another, and demonstrate good sportsmanship both on and off the field.

In addition to regular lessons, students have the opportunity to participate in extracurricular clubs, inter-school competitions, and sports leadership programs, further enhancing their skills and confidence. Whether aiming for personal fitness goals, pursuing competitive excellence, or simply enjoying physical activity, our PE curriculum caters to the diverse needs and aspirations of all students at HDHS.

The core PE offer is an exciting pathway which is designed to suit all students. All students are reminded that they require full HDHS PE uniform as per the schools uniform policy to be able to fully engage in such an exciting offer. Having the correct HDHS PE uniform comes back to the schools Achieve, Belong, Connect and Develop acronym in which as a department we want our students to take pride and responsibly for their sporting uniform.

Overall, core PE at HDHS for Year 9 students is not just about physical education; it's about empowering young individuals to lead healthy, active lifestyles, develop essential life skills, and cultivate a lifelong passion for sport and well-being.
