Details about why and how we collected data. Findings and wonderings?
What is the data telling us?
90% of HCSPS students own a bike/scooter, but only 2% ride to school. Why?
Distance, hills and age are significant issues to students riding or walking to school. Safety is a concern. Are parents the group that we need to address?
Most students, boys and girls of all ages, would like the chance to play outside during wet weather. Only the age 11/12 girls were less interested.
Interest in a mud kitchen is low, about 10% across the school. However, girls aged 7/8 years-old showed almost 25% would enjoy that type of play.
Older students have identified that we need play spaces that offer risks for them to explore. Adventure play is missing for these students.
Almost 100% of respondents reports that they want to climb either trees or a climbing wall.
60% of students report they would like to play barefoot.
Can we increase the number of students walking, riding or scootering to school?
Boys would be far more likely to use a bike pump track than girls.
Girls would be more likely to use a secret garden space.
