The Day of play
The Project Reimaginate "Day of Play" was a one day event which showcased the vision for a revitalised play space at Hallett Cove South Primary School. Students, staff and the community were invited to join in a range of diverse free play experiences organised and run by students with the support of staff and community organisations like Nature Play SA, Marion Council (NRM) and AAEE Bringing Back The Butterflies.
Forest Play
Blindfold Low Ropes Course - Only for the brave! A risky nature walk wearing blindfolds.
Stick Village - You are invited to help create stick village on the outskirts of the forest space.
The Secret Garden:
Stick Fairies and Magic Wands - Create stick fairy people or make your very own magic wand using magic thread!
Butterfly Art - Come and create a butterfly artwork which our skilled artists may use to permanently decorate the Secret Garden space.
Magic Potions - A station featuring pots, spoons, sand, seeds, and other natural resources for making magic potions.
Scooter Play
The Scooter Track - The netball court will be transformed into a BYO scooter track featuring road features, rules and even a kindergarten created car wash.
Active Travel Challenge - Almost 80% of our students travel to school via car. On the #DayofPlay we are encouraging families to find an active way to travel to school.
Special Events:
Adventure Loose Parts Play - Imaginations will run wild while playing with loose parts including wooden rounds, tyres, branches, string and tarps. Unstructured construction play!
Dinosaur Egg Scavenger Hunt - With hidden surprises. Perfect for budding archeologists.
Open Fire - Make and cook damper on a stick over an open fire. Enjoy stories, songs & marshmellows.

The Mud Kitchen
Mud Play - Come bake a mud pie or drive a Tonka truck in the new mud space!
Adventure Loose Parts Play - Let your imaginations run wild while constructing a cubby with log rounds, tyres, branches, string and tarps.

The Climbing Wall - Open 24/7! Come check out our new traverse climbing wall. Take the missing colour challenge!
Active Play - Skipping & ball games, Tennis, and volleyball.
Reading - Check out a book and read in the library or find a quiet nook in the Secret Garden
@12pm - Join David Speirs MP, Minister for Environment and Water to plant a native shrub or grass in the Secret Garden.
The "Day of Play" was inspired by this Better Block video which features the town of Ottumwa, Iowa, where residents rallied together to share a vision of what the town's dilapidated Main Street could become. For one weekend, pop-up shops, outdoor seating, events and playgrounds revitalised the space and inspired the community to come together and seek better.
