Congratulations to our Battle of the Books Team!! This team of students, under the direction of Mrs. Maxon and Mrs. Waycaster, outlasted other district schools to earn the title of District Champs!
In light of the recent tragedy in Florida, Rugby (and all schools in Henderson County) are reviewing and tightening our processes to ensure student and staff safety. Please know that student safety is our number one priority. To that end, we encourage you to have family discussions around this subject and encourage your students to report any suspicious behavior to you or another adult. Emphasize the importance of not making joking or lightly intended comments regarding violence, as schools will choose to overreact to avoid the possibility of missing signs that could avert a disastrous situation. This is a situation where families and schools MUST work together to increase our students’ safety
We have begun to receive questions about the planned Student Walk Out scheduled for March 14. We do not intend to prevent students from participating if they wish, but we will work to be sure that participating students are safe during the process. Students not wishing to participate will continue with class during this time.
Parents, we need your help. Bluetooth speakers are never necessary for your students to bring to school. Because these speakers have begun to create a disruption, please understand that if students have one, we will confiscate and call a parent to pick this up. We appreciate any support you can offer here.
