The Webinar Start time: 9:00 a.m. The prayer was followed by the national anthem and the HCDC Mission-Vision Goals. The introductory remarks and introduction of the guest speaker were provided by the BSCA's program chairperson Sir Aljun Lozano.
Working life is the most spent point in life, according to developmental psychology. We allocate far too much time to work in our lifetime. The guest speaker asked us What are our initial thoughts about job searching? We then answered accordingly. The job search process is divided into three stages: Job Opportunities, Job Application Process, and Career Enhancement. There are entry level positions and middle level positions available in Job Opportunities. The guest speaker then relates her own experience working at NCCC for eight years. The guest speaker then advised us to pursue postgraduate degrees so that we may share our experiences with other students. In Job application Process there are three parts when submitting application. First part is the Submission of Application Documents (Resume, CV, Cover Application Letter, other Documents) The guest speaker then shows us the difference between Resume and CV’s. Second part is the Employment Tests and References where it focuses more on the personality and skills of the applicant. The guest speaker then gives tips for providing reference and letters of recommendation. “Choose someone that is objective and related to the field or nature of the job you are applying for. This person must have a relationship with you. Relatives and friends are not suitable because they can be biased. Obtain recommendation after every other position. Ask for permission if you use someone as a reference.” The last one is the interview. Before the Interview. Learn about the company. Know the problem that they face. Know the services that they offer. During the Interview. Be punctual. Do not use earrings for boys and multiple earrings for girls. Be formal. Prim and proper. After the Interview. Do not ask the result from time to time. Be patient. In Career Enhancement the speaker highlights that we should become knowledgeable about the job to get promoted easily. Get certifications and other work-related achievements. Grab opportunities when offered them and ask for help from our superior or the HR. Ask ourselves do we really want to be a supervisor? What do I have to do to get there? Do I need to improve my performance and experience?
After the discussion of job application and career enhancements the guest speaker then asked if we have some question and clarification. Following ma'am Prem's closing remarks, Sir Jhomie took over. Sir Aljun was given the floor; however, there is a technical problem. Sir Job Benzon hands off a certificate of gratitude signed by the BSCA faculty and program chairperson to the guest speaker.
