Here is my video of the CNC machine carving my design and images.
Are you working by yourself or in a team?
I am working by myself.
What materials will you need for your project?
I wil need a laser cutter and wood
What is your plan to create in this project?
My plan is to create a cross logo.
What unique qualities will your project have?
It will have text and overlapping shapes to look cool.
Using Easel and an CNC, I created a cross country logo out of wood, because for 8P2 we had to decide what we were making. I decided to create a cross country logo. I used wood and a CNC machine. I never used a CNC machine before and I wanted to learn how to use one.
During this process, I learned how to use Easel, Easel is a website for the CNC machine. I also learned how to use a fancy tape measure to measure my wood block. I also learned that you need 4 clips instead of two to hold down your piece of wood.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to knowledge constructor because I used online information to learn the website. I also had to send a email so my protect would get carved. I also tried to learn another website but quickly switched back over the next day.
A challenge I overcame on this project was not having my text show up, I was able to do it by watching tutorials on YouTube. My text would not trace out of my wood. I had my wood block too many layers into the wood.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change the the amount of wood holders, the wood clip on fell off causing my wood block to move while the CNC was moving. The reason why I would change it is because my project had a lot of wood carvings into it. If I had more things to hold my piece of wood down my design would have been ok.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing. My project connects to the Engineering Design CTE program at Hastings High School.
My project connects to careers in CNC Operator/Machinist because in the job you have to use a CNC machine. you will have to have the skills to operate this machine. You also will need to know how to use the website.
