What unique qualities will your project have?
No body's ever done this.
Today I joined Harrison on this project and I did my 10 good things and planning questions.
Today, we decided that we would make it so instead of touching an object that the Makey Makey is connected to, we would step on it. We then made a simple piece of cardboard and taped aluminium foil on top of it.
We have our model completed and it's almost ready for our video tomorrow.
Today we finished our final build and made are video about it.
I worked on my reflection.
Using an iPad, a chromebook, a desktop computer, aluminum foil tape, duct tape, cardboard, a Makey Makey, and alligator clips, we created a way to play Geometry Dash with your foot. We did this because everybody else in my class just taps things with their hand to make the Makey Makey work, and I thought this would be cooler. We did this because we wanted this to be more advanced than last year's Makey Makey project.
During this process, I learned that Makey Makey was a lot more confusing than I remember. I completely forgot that you need a clip connected to the Earth on the Makey Makey controller. Luckily Harrison remembered how to do this and helped a lot.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Empowered Learner. My project ties to this standard because I kept track of my progress and goal as I worked on this project. My project also ties to Knowledge Constructor because I used the internet to find helpful how to videos to refresh my mind on how to use Makey Makeys.
A challenge I overcame on this project was not remembering how to use a Makey Makey. I was able to do it by looking on the Makey Makey website for tutorials. I also had Harry as a partner so he helped a lot throughout this project.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change the game we played. The reason why I would change it is because it was too boring. If I do a Makey Makey project again, I want to do a more exciting game.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing. My project connects to the Engineeing Design CTE program at Hastings High School. My project connects to careers in Makey Makey President / Chief Operating Officer. It also applies to jobs such as an engineer because we used code to program our Makey Makey and we used our constuctive knowledge to build our device.
