Are you working by yourself or in a team?
I am working alone
What materials will you need for your project?
3D printer and Tinkercad
What is your plan to create in this project?
I will build the box then add the Opossum
What unique qualities will your project have?
The Opossum will be peeking out of the box
Using Tinkercad, I created an Opossum in a box because I really like Opossums and thought it would be fun to put one in a box. I also had the idea of making a rat with a movable tail. I chose to do the Opossum in box because I thought it could also be useful by being able to hold small items like rings.
During this process, I learned how to build objects out of more simple shapes. It was very difficult to make the Opossum look right because they have pointy faces. It was fairly easy to make the box because it was just 2 boxes.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Computational Thinker because I was able to make the box usable. Also, I used simple shapes to make an Opossum.
A challenge I overcame on this project was I was struggling to build the Opossums head. I was able to do it by finding new shapes to experiment with. I also used photos as a reference.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change the fact that the tail wasn't movable. The reason why I would change it is because I think a movable tail would be cool. The only bad thing is the tail could not hold rings or bracelets.
