Are you working by yourself or in a team?
i am working by myself
What materials will you need for your project?
the materials i need are a computer and various Phillips and flat head screwdrivers
What is your plan to create in this project?
my plan was to take the entire computer apart and try my best to put it back together without breaking anything.
What unique qualities will your project have?
my project is unique because there is only one other person with me working on the same type of computer.
day 1: I picked out what computer i wanted to work on.
day 2: I took of the back of the computer and took our the keyboard.
day 3: I popped all of the keys of the keyboard and pried the outer edge up.
day 4: I took the fan, disc player, and copper off.
day 5: I took the motherboard of and examined that then worked on the screen
day 6: I added the finishing touches but taking a majority of the wires out.
day 7: took the screws to the screen out and finished.
Using different tools, I created a reverse engineering project on an old dell computer because it looked fun and hard.
During this process, I learned that there are certain ways you need to take a computer apart without destroying/ breaking it.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to computational thinker because i found new strategies for moving along instead of being stuck on on specific part of the computer.
A challenge I overcame on this project was taking/ getting the fan out it was hard and had to find all the little screws and wires without messing up anything,. I was able to do it by asking for help and slowing down my pace.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change the order i took everything apart in. The reason why I would change it is because it just made everything an overall mess and was so much to handle.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing. My project connects to the engineering design CTE program at Hastings High School. My project connects to careers in motherboard technician and laptop technician.
keyboard: it was very dusty and not very hard to pop of the keys and stuff, surprisingly had some keys not working.
screen: the screen had a lot of finger prints on it and had stuff smeared on the screen and was nasty.
top: the top of the computer was very dusty and had lots of scratches and fingerprints all over it.
the bottom base: the bottom was hard to get off and was very clean, the speakers weren't to bad.
these pictures were taken during the process there is the bottom base without the cover and battery. the battery was very easy to take off. but the covers for the side and etc, i had to pry them off with a flat head screwdriver.
one of these pictures is what the keyboard looks like after all the keys are pryed off.
This video includes everything and anything that i took apart from the computer, it includes the keyboard base where you find the mousepad and the lining for the actual keys and numerical pad.
It has pictures of motherboards and wires and the fan the disc drive and screen.
The video shows the battery and all of the hard ware/ casing of the actual computer its self.
these include the inside of the computer and you can see the motherboard, you can also see the base of where the mother board sets, and you can also the disc drive.
