Using Cospaces, I created a race track based about MSI track because I've been getting into cars lately and I wanted to do something related to cars and coding. I was making a random race track but my friend said it looks like the MSI track and I should just make that instead. The cars were coded on different codes and made car number 8 win because it was last I thought it should go into first.
During this process, I learned that you can do decimals when you use the Cospaces coding system. I also learned that if something is too big, you can just size it down and work with micro blocks to make places. I struggled with making the track because there was a boundary and I was going out of it so I couldn't build out the border and I just sized it down and it fixed.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Innovative Designer, because I had to design a track similar to the MSI but not to similar that it would be pure copying. I also had to change the coding for some cars because they were inside of each other when they were driving around and I tried to minimize that by a lot but some of the cars do still go inside each other.
A challenge I overcame on this project was the coding for the cars. I was able to do it by fixing the cars by failing with the code, seeing what's wrong, and fixing the code after I saw what was wrong. I also learned that I put too many cars and the coding system wouldn't allow me to do 10 or more so I just limited it down to 8.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change how detailed the track is. The reason why I would change it is because The track looks boring and not even. There isn't even any stands near the track for people to watch the cars go around the track. It looks really basic and I was hoping it would be better looking.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing. My project connects to the Computer Programming CTE program at Hastings High School. I think it connects to the CTE program Computer Programming because for part of my project I had to code the cars so it would go around the track instead of a straight line.
My project connects to careers in Computer Programmer because I programmed in code on a website for a project I was making. I coded 8 cars to run around a track in a app called Cospaces. I also think my project also connects to Progammer/Delevapor because, I had to develop a game that I made and also created a program in a game.
