Using cardboard, I created a skyscraper because me and my partner wanted to created a tall object that's made out of cardboard. We wanted to build something small but detailed but we changed our mind. We saw another piece of work that was big and me and my partner decided that we should something familiar. So we built a giant tower made of cardboard that is very tall when placed on a table.

During this process, I learned how to cut cardboard in areas so it would curve or bend. We didn't want a normal tall building so we put together curved pieces of cardboard. We wanted it to be the empire state building at first but we put some pieces of cardboard in the wrong places because we measured wrong. 

The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Innovative Designer because me and partner had to design the tower and build it. 

A challenge I overcame on this project was getting the cardboard to stay up. I was able to do it by gluing and taping the cardboard to other pieces of cardboard. I also struggled on getting some pieces to stick together so I had to press down really hardly on the cardboard for it to stay in place. I also had to cut in some places if it was way to big or thick

Given a chance to do this again, I would change what I built. The reason why I would change it is because I made my own object that would really be helpful in the future. I just made a big cardboard tower that is really only good for its height. My project could've been better then it was but we just wanted to create something big.

Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing.  My project connects to the Engineering Design CTE program at Hastings High School. It connects because we had to design my project and build it over time.

My project connects to careers in Mechanical Design Engineer because I had to design my project over time and I also built my project when I planned what I was going to create. My project could also connect to careers in Designers, I had to design my project for my tower. I had to think of the curves and shapes that would go on it.
