Using A spare monitor, screwdriver, hammer, flathead screwdriver, wire cutters, and a tweeze, I created a miniature table because I thought it fun to create for my project. I also created the table for decoration across my room when I take it home. The table will also be helpful for holding some objects that aren't too heavy because the table is week and somewhat fragile.
During this process, I learned how to take apart a AOC monitor and make it into something useful. I also learned what parts there are to a monitor because monitors are not just a green board and some wiring, its much more then that. I also learned there are something that looks like a protective covering on the monitors screen that helps project the thing on the screen.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Innovative Designer because I made something out of a broken object into something that can be used. It could also connect to Knowledge Constructor because, I knew exactly what I was doing to create what I wanted to create.
A challenge I overcame on this project was finding the right tools and parts to make my project. I was able to do it by looking around for the right tools and asking around for the parts I was hoping to get. I also struggled getting some parts onto my project because the hot glue would not properly get the parts on the table to stick.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change how the legs on the table were made. The reason why I would change it is because the legs are very weaker I was hoping they weren't going to be. I would make them look like normal table legs but the way I have mine are just looking better but weaker.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, and Marketing. My project connects to the Engineering Design CTE program at Hastings High School. It connects because I'm creating something out of a broken object that could not be used anymore into something that could be used.
My project connects to careers in Mechanical Designer because I was designing a object to use from my monitor. I was also mechanically creating the table from the AOC monitor. My project also connects to Design Engineer because I was designing a object to use in the future.
