For This project I will be working with Tommy. I plan to do a race, including drag race, and opstical race. I will need a tablet, a Sphero bolt, a mini ramp, and tape. My project will be unique because there will be a few different types of races that we will be doing.
List of 25:
Make it go forward
make a maze
make an obstacle Course
make it go backwards
make a race course
make a drag race
Sphero mini golf
jousting
a star
circle
square
rectangle
triangle
king of the circle
change color
spin
spell a name
spell a word
dance
go down stairs
climb
go up stairs
make it go right
make it go left
deliver something
This is a drag race between me and Tommy.
Tommy won this race.
Also, I would have more videos and pictures of other activities with the robots, but my school got shut down due to Covid-19 . Therefore I was not able to finish my entire plan for my project.
Using a Sphero bolt, I created a drag race between me and my friend Tommy, because we wanted to see if it was based on the robot or the driver. We found it is based on the robot and how long or how much of a charge it had. Another thing we did was put a mini ramp in the race. We did that so we could see how far/high it can get off that. Also we put that in the race to see if one obstacle would effect the output of the race.
During this process, I learned that the robots speed was based on the charge/power of the robot, not the driver. We also learned that if both robots went on the same obstacle, then it wouldn't effect how fast the robots went. That is about all I learned, because we got shut down before I was able to learn anything else. That is because all the robots and tablets are all at the school.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Knowledge Constructor because I used a digital tool, like Sphero play to control my robot. Also because I tested/researched strategies including, what effects how fast the robot goes, and if an obstacle would effect the outcome of the race.
A challenge I overcame on this project was not having any photos or other activities. I was able to do it by putting a note stating why I didn't have any photos or other videos. Again, this is because my school got shut down due to Covid, so I wasn't able to get any more because everything is locked up in the school.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change when I did it. The reason why I would change it is because my school got shut down, so I only got to do one activity. Also I would change what activity I did. I would change this because my first time doing Sphero I did a drag race as well. Another reason why is because I think it would have been cooler if I did a complete obstacle course, instead of a drag race.
