8p2-Laser printer

Using Tinker CAD, I created a birthday present for my mom, with the laser printer. It is a outline of Michigan and a message for her on the back. I did this because it is her birthday and I wanted to make her a special present using the laser printer. Also she loves like wooden stuff and stuff to do with Michigan. So what better to do than a wooden outline of Michigan.

During this process, I learned what a SVG is and how to use a laser printer to make anything you want as long as it can be forwarded to an SVG. An SVG stands for Scalable Vector Graphics. I also learned that Tinker CAD is a site that I can use and Has an option to save as and SVG( Scalable Vector Graphics).

The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Knowledge Constructor because I had to use digital tools like google drawings, Tinker CAD. Also I had to use the tool like the Laser printer, which I had to turn on and Help find out how it will look on the piece of Medium clear acrylic.

A challenge I overcame on this project was finding a site that I could make something to save as a SVG. I was able to do it by researching what the best sites are and finding what ones are free. One thing I searched up was top design sites that let you save it as an SVG. One site I tried using was Vecteezy. They are a good site if you are willing to pay money. I eventually found out that Tinker CAD would let me save as an SVG, so I used Tinker CAD because I already had a site.

Given a chance to do this again, I would change The size of the designs. The reason why I would change it is because it is only 4' by 4' inches. Also I would either change how deep the outline of Michigan is or color the inside of the Michigan outline. I would make it bigger so that it is easier to see the words on the back. I would make it deeper so it is easier to see the outline of Michigan.

My project connects to the computer programing, CTE program at Hastings High School. My project connects to careers in Laser operator, and 3D printing and Laser Technician.
