8p8-cnc machine

For this project I will be working by myself. I will need a piece of wood, Easel, and a cnc machine. I plan to make a sign to hang up on the wall. My project will be unique because it will have a barn, and say Home, Sweet, Home.

Using Easel, I created Sign that says Home sweet home with a barn on it because I know my mom like's that saying so I built her one. Another reason I did this is so I could help my teacher learn to use his new machine. I also did this because I thought it would be cool to build something on my teachers new machine.

During this process, I learned how to make a project on Easel. I also learned how to make it the right bit size, change the dimensions to make it fit the right size I want my board. The most important thing I learned was how you can share this project with my teacher. All you have to do is press file, then share, copy the link and sent it to your teacher on Gmail.

The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Innovative Designer because I use digital tools such as Easel to create my project. Also because I tested what my project would look like if/how I made the cuts be. For example I could have outlined the barn or I could have cut out the whole thing.

A challenge I overcame on this project was figuring out how to share it with my teacher. I was able to do it by asking a friend for help. I also solved this problem by clicking file, edit, machine, toolbox, and help until I found out how to share it with my teacher. Another problem I overcame was figuring out which bit size would make my project turn out the best. I was able to do it by looking at what bit sizes we hade and the options on Easel, then choosing which one made it look the best.

Given a chance to do this again, I would change The font of the words. The reason why I would change it is because that way it has more swag, meaning it pops out and looks really cool. Another thing I would change is how positioned the barn and if the was the only design I have. I would change this because that way my project is the best it can be.

My project connects to the Engineering Design CTE program at Hastings High School. My project connects to careers in CNC Machine Apprentice, Tool and Die Maker, CNC Machine Operator, etc.
