Using an X-Carve, I created a spider for Halloween because it is around that time and my mom seems to like Halloween so I will gift it to her. I think she likes Halloween so much because at this time (9-12-2024) she's already starting to set up for Halloween. I also think she likes Halloween so much because every time around Halloween we all go to a trailer park with my extended family and it is fun because we don't see them as much as I think we should because they live three hours away
During this process, I learned how to use the X-Carve machine to make a wood engraving.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to the knowlege constructor because I used the internet to find information on how to use the X-Carve machine.
A challenge I overcame on this project was figuring out how to clamp my wood block down to the table on which it will be engraved. I was able to do it by looking up videos on the internet.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change make the legs more defined. The reason why I would change it is because when I changed it to what it is now it wouldn't let me change it back even though I knew I didn't like them how they were.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, and Marketing. My project connects to the Engineering Design CTE program at Hastings High School.
My project connects to careers in design engineer because what they do is use software to design products and what I did in this project was use software to design a gift for my mother.
