8P1-3D Printer

For my first project I plan to create a pencil holder using a 3d printer.

Using the 3d printer, I created a pencil holder bin by my self because you always need a place to keep pencils so you don't lose your pencils. It will also give you a nice decorative feel because you can decorate it how you would like. for this project I needed a 3d printer and the website Tinkercad and I plan to make the holder on the smaller side.

During this process, I learned how to design and print a pencil holder using a 3d printer and tinkercad. I also had to measure correctly so my creation didn't turn out being 3 feet wide or 3mm wide.

The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Empowered Learner because in this project I had to use the technology I choose and made something out of it. I also worked to achieved my learning goal.

A challenge I overcame on this project was trying to get the holder in the right size. I was able to do it by trying out a bunch of sizes and found the best size. I also had to figure out how to use the 3d printer and Tinkercad to create my creation.

Given a chance to do this again, I would try to build something else. The reason why I would change it is because a pencil holder is kind of basic so I would try and do something more advanced. I would try to build maybe a Lego brick or a case for something.

Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing. My project connects to the Engineering Design CTE program at Hastings High School. My project connects to careers in design like construction or vehicle and machine designing because in these careers you have to use your technology and create or build cars, building, and more.
