Worked on my Reflection
Using, Cardboard, tape, and hot glue I created a lacrosse stick because I thought that would be a very fun game to play and it definitely was. Also because we wanted to make some sort of game. Another reason was I wanted to make something where I can catch a ball and throw a ball.
During this process, I learned hot glue is not as strong as I thought it was. Also that you need a really strong stick to throw the ball. Another thing I learned is that you need the top part of the catcher cut off.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to innovated designer because we created and designed lacrosse sticks. Also we made our project better everyday.
A challenge I overcame on this project was the catcher part on the top fell off while I was throwing it. I was able to do it by putting a lot of hot glue on it and taping it to the stick. Also by adding a piece of carboard between the stick and the catcher.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change The piece of cardboard I made the stick out of. The reason why I would change it is because I had the grab really high up on the stick because it was really floppy up there. Also because it was more of a triangle shape than a circle shape.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing. My project connects to the Construction Trades CTE program at Hastings High School. The reason I think it connects to construction trades is because I used the resources around me to build my own lacrosse stick.
My project connects to careers in building technicians because I built my own sticks to play lacrosse. Jobs that tie with building technicians is a construction manager, carpenter, and electricians. Those tie with being a building technician because they all involve building and creating things.
