Using Tinker Cad, I created a fidget spinner because to create something fun and not just a simple object. Also because so I can use it while I walk around. Another reason is because I wanted to figure out how to make it spin.
During this process, I learned how to put holes in the shape to make it hallow on the inside. Also learned how to make everything even and in the right spot. Another thing I learned is how to make the fidget actually spin.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to being a empowered learner because I had to use videos off the internet to learn how to make it. Also had learn how to send it to the printer and make it a STL file.
A challenge I overcame on this project was not knowing how to make my fidget spin. I was able to do it by looking on YouTube for videos and found one on how to make it spin. Also overcame it be figuring out how close the shapes need to be.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change the barring's shape . The reason why I would change it is because after I printed in all the circles came out as ovals. The reason the ovals are bad is because it wont spin evenly because its bumpy.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing. My project connects to the engineering design CTE program at Hastings High School. I believe it ties to engineering design more than the other programs.
My project connects to careers in Mechanical Engineering because I created my own fidget spinner using a app to design it. Jobs that tie with a mechanical engineer is a mechanical technician, and a HVAC technician. Those tie with being a mechanical engineer because they involve designing and then creating.
