Cross-district collaboration and grant work

Although we teach in separate districts Julie Arsenault and I work together often. Must like the ISS it takes a lot of collaboration to be able to do all the fun projects we do. Check out our grant proposals and other great projects for Science 7 and Science 9! We also do a lot of public speaking together and love to share our spark for STEM!

ATA Science and Math Councils Geeks Unite Conference 2018

Julie and I presented to our colleagues at the ATA Science and Math Councils Geeks Unite Conference about our Space Garden projects including our experiences with weaving space into everything we do as well as the value of collaboration. We shared our advice about grant writing, coming up with innovative ideas, and ultimately looking for support for our dreams. We were happy to explain the amazing opportunities for energy and environmental education initiatives of any kind with the support of Inside Education's A+ For Energy, as well as the opportunity to explore geo-science and engineering with the generosity of the APEGA Innovation in Education grants.

We were also incredibly humbled and honored to receive the ATASC 2018 Outstanding Science Teacher Award. We met at the conference years ago and always say that our strength is our collaboration and friendship. We were able to take on more meaningful projects, inspire each other and apply for these grants because of how well we work together and challenge each other to be the best teachers we can be.
