public speaking & PD

I have been fortunate enough to speak publicly about my journey and I always begin by sharing what I call "my spark" for science and space.  As a young girl my dad would take me hunting and fishing and he would show me the inside of an animal or have me watch it's behavior, and for as long as I can remember I wanted to know how living things worked.  As an adult I fell irreparably in love with space as I listened to CSA astronaut, Chris Hadfield, greet me (and the rest of the world) from the ISS with his Tweets "Good Morning Earth!".  I have had the fortune to meet Hadfield on several occasions, and each time I walk away feeling even more inspired.

These experiences guide my pedagogy and have inspired me to "BE THE SPARK" for my students and other educators.  That is our ultimate job, getting people excited and curious to learn more.  This is how we will collectively put a maple leaf on the Moon or Mars!

public speaking EXPERIENCE

I am happy to speak on a wide range of topics from subject specific pedagogy, Project Based Learning ideas, using Technology in Science, Canada's role in the space industry and panels about Women in STEM and Space and so much more.  I am always eager to take on new topics and audiences and appreciate being able to share my experiences and insights.

I have also been a Teacher Leader with Let's Talk Science where I gave Keynote addresses and Teacher PD about a variety of STEM subjects, may favorite of which are the Tomatopshere and Living Space projects.

I often speak as one of #2MartianTeachers alongside my colleague Julie Arsenault.  So much of what we do is as a team, from grant projects to resource sharing and development.  Like the ISS and Lunar Gateway, we are stronger when we are able to collaborate and bring our strengths together.

I am available for everything from keynote speeches, breakout sessions, panel discussions and more.  Please see my "CONTACT" page for inquiries.

I have a wide variety of experience  as an educational consultant as well.
