For GCSE Health and Social Care (Edexcel):
Assessment for the GCSE course in Health and Social Care comprises two components: a written examination and a controlled assessment.
Written Examination: You will sit an externally set and marked written examination, which typically covers topics such as human lifespan development, health and social care services, and factors affecting health and well-being. This examination will assess your knowledge and understanding of theoretical concepts within the subject.
Controlled Assessment: A significant portion of your assessment will be through controlled assessment tasks, where you will complete assignments under controlled conditions within the classroom. These tasks will assess your ability to apply your knowledge to practical scenarios, research, and evaluate information related to health and social care settings. Your performance in these assessments will be internally marked by your teachers and externally moderated by the exam board.
For BTEC Health and Social Care (Edexcel):
Assessment for the BTEC course in Health and Social Care is primarily through internally assessed coursework and externally assessed tasks.
Internally Assessed Coursework: You will complete a series of assignments and projects throughout the course, which will be assessed by your teachers.
