Alongside the core GCSE subjects you must select one subject from each of the four option blocks.

Make sure you have 2nd and 3rd choices in mind as back-ups in case your first choice options fill up. 

Red Options are Ebacc subjects, Green are Directed Options subjects, by invitation only, see below for more details.

English Baccalaureate (Ebacc) Subjects 

The English Baccalaureate is made of six subjects: English, Maths, the Sciences, Humanities (History or Geography) and a Language (French or Spanish).

 

There is increasing importance attached to the English Baccalaureate since it was introduced several years ago. 


Students who may want to follow a university course in the future should consider choosing a Humanities and a Language among their four options. 

Other languages that count towards Ebacc are:

German Urdu

Japansese Arabic

Russian Hebrew

Polish Bengali

Chinese Portuguese

Persian Latin

Turkish Italian

Panjabi Gujarati

Proficiency is needed in speaking, writing and reading.

Restrictions 

It is important that you choose a broad and balanced curriculum, especially if you want to continue your education in the Sixth Form, or at Further Education colleges, University and at other institutions. Because of this we impose the following restrictions: you may only choose a maximum of two practical subjects (Art, Dance, Drama, Food Preparation & Nutrition, Music).
