Firefighting
In Firefighting, students will gain the knowledge and understanding of the basic concepts of fire and emergency. Basic skills that students will have the opportunity to learn include ladder skills, use of fire extinguishers, self-contained breathing apparatus, fire hoses, fire streams, and search and rescue. Students will also learn about fire behavior, ventilation methods, forceable entry, ropes and knots, and personal protective equipment.
Curriculum
Firefighting is a 1 year program consisting of Firefighting I and Firefighting II. This course is available to rising 10th-12th graders who will turn sixteen on or before October 31st. Upon completion of this course students will have the opportunity to earn the national Fire protection Association Firefighter 1 and 2 nationally recognized certifications.
